How Are AI Product Images Different From Studio ShotsUpdated 6 days ago

AI product images are not the same as studio photography. Being honest about the difference matters more to me than overselling what the technology produces.

A professional photography studio shoots the actual physical product under controlled lighting with a skilled photographer directing every element. For certain product types — fine jewelry, detailed handcraft, food and beverage — the result has a depth and authenticity that AI currently cannot replicate.

AI-generated images are created from reference photos of your product guided by detailed prompts about setting, mood, lighting and styling.

Where AI images perform strongly:

  • Lifestyle scenes that would be expensive or complex to stage and photograph
  • White background images where clean consistency matters more than texture depth
  • Products where setting and mood communicate more than close-up physical detail
  • Brands at early stages where studio investment is not yet the right priority

Where studio photography remains superior:

  • Fine jewelry or detailed handcraft where texture is the primary selling point
  • Food and beverage where appetite appeal depends on photographic realism
  • Luxury products where photography itself is part of the brand perception

I give honest guidance on which approach fits your specific product during the discovery call. If AI images are not the right fit for what you sell I will tell you directly before the service starts.
