How Does an App Audit Help My Shopify Store Run BetterUpdated 6 days ago

Every Shopify store accumulates apps over time. Some get installed to solve a specific problem and then never removed after the problem was resolved. Some conflict with each other and create subtle errors that neither app reports clearly. Some run scripts on every page even though they are only needed on one.

Unchecked app accumulation results in a slower store, occasional unexplained errors and a monthly subscription cost that no longer reflects what is actually being used or needed.

The app audit I carry out covers:

  • Every installed app reviewed against whether it is actively needed right now
  • Unused or redundant apps flagged for removal
  • App conflicts identified — where two or more apps are creating errors or competing for the same store elements
  • Script loading reviewed for apps that run code on every page unnecessarily

Apps removed after an app audit almost always produce a measurable improvement in page speed. And removing apps that were being paid for but never used has the immediate benefit of reducing ongoing operating costs.

I never remove an app without confirming it is either unused or being replaced by something better. Every removal gets explained clearly in the audit report so nothing disappears from your store without you understanding why it was removed.
