How Do You Research My Top Competitors on My BehalfUpdated 6 days ago

Competitor research is one of the most valuable parts of the validation service — and one of the most commonly skipped steps when founders build on their own.

I research your top five competitors across four dimensions. What they sell and how they position it — their product names, descriptions and the angle they use to attract buyers. What they charge — their pricing structure and whether they discount regularly. What buyers say about them — I read reviews carefully because positive reviews reveal what the market values and negative reviews reveal the gaps your product could fill. How they present themselves — their store structure and how they communicate with buyers.

What this research gives you:

  • A clear picture of the market you are entering
  • The gaps competitors are leaving unfilled
  • The weaknesses in how they communicate that you can improve on
  • A realistic benchmark for pricing and positioning

I do not recommend copying competitors. The goal is to understand the landscape so your product can occupy a position that is genuinely distinct. A product that enters a market with clear differentiation builds a more sustainable path to consistent sales than one competing on price alone.
