How Do I Know If Real Buyers Actually Want My ProductUpdated 8 days ago

Most founders test demand the wrong way. They ask friends and family if they would buy the product. Friends and family say yes. The store launches and actual buyers do not appear. That gap is exactly what validation prevents.

Real demand shows up in specific places. People are actively searching for products like yours. Competitors in your category are selling and collecting reviews. Communities of buyers exist around the problem your product solves. These are the signals I look for.

Here is what I research to assess real demand:

  • Search trends showing how often buyers look for products like yours
  • Review patterns on competitor products — what buyers love and what frustrates them
  • Community activity on platforms where your target buyer already gathers
  • Price points at which buyers are currently making purchases

I am honest about what the research shows. If demand is strong I show you the evidence clearly. If demand signals are weak I tell you that too — with specific reasoning about what it means and whether adjustments could change the picture.

Building a store on validated demand is the foundation of consistent and sustainable sales.
