What Is a Brand Story Image and What Does It CommunicateUpdated 2 months ago

A brand story image is a static post that communicates something about the brand itself — its founding reason, its values, its perspective on the product category or the person behind it — rather than about the product.

Most D2C brands underinvest in brand story content because it does not feel directly commercial. This is a mistake. Buyers increasingly make purchase decisions based on who they are buying from as much as what they are buying. A brand story post answers the question every potential buyer eventually asks — who is this and why should I trust them?

What a brand story image can communicate:

  • The founding motivation — why the brand exists and what the founder was experiencing when they decided to build it
  • The brand's position on the category — what it refuses to do that competitors do, and what it commits to that most do not
  • The specific belief that drives every product decision the brand makes

The brand story image is one of the most important posts in the 30 because it humanizes the brand at a moment when most buyers are skeptical of polished marketing. A genuine, honest piece of brand story content earns the kind of trust that product posts and infographics cannot generate on their own — and trust is what converts followers into full-price buyers who return and recommend.
