What Is Meta Business Verification and Why Does It MatterUpdated 5 days ago
Meta Business Verification proves to Meta that the business sending messages through the WhatsApp Business API is a legitimate, registered entity. It is required for using the API at the scale a D2C store needs.
Without verification the API account is severely limited — only a small number of contacts can be messaged, the business name does not display to recipients and broadcast messaging is unavailable.
What the verification process involves:
A Meta Business Manager account is required — the centralized platform managing the WhatsApp API account alongside any Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Business documentation gets submitted to Meta:
- A registered business name matching official records
- A phone number or website URL Meta uses to verify the business exists
- In some markets, a government-issued business registration document
Meta reviews the submission and approves or requests additional information. Approval typically takes two to seven business days.
Once verified the account receives a higher messaging tier — significantly more contacts per day — and the business name displays visibly to every recipient.
I manage the complete verification process as part of the service, including preparing the submission and following up on any requests Meta raises.
