What Legal Pages Does My Store Need Before Going LiveUpdated 6 days ago

Legal pages are not optional for a Shopify store. They are required by payment gateways before they approve your account, by ad platforms before they approve your campaigns and by buyers before they feel confident enough to complete a purchase.

The four pages every Shopify store needs are a refund policy, a privacy policy, terms of service and a shipping policy. I write all four during the store setup service.

Here is what each one covers:

  • Refund policy — what happens if a buyer wants to return a product, written in plain language a buyer can actually understand
  • Privacy policy — how customer data is collected and used, required for compliance and for running ads on any major platform
  • Terms of service — the basic agreement between the store and its buyers
  • Shipping policy — what buyers can expect in terms of delivery time, costs and any relevant conditions

All four are written specifically for your store — not copied from a generic template. They reflect your actual product, your actual return conditions and your actual market.

Buyers who find complete clearly written legal pages trust the store more immediately. Missing or vague policies create doubt at exactly the moment someone is deciding whether to hand over their payment details.
