What Trust Signals Does My Shopify Store Actually NeedUpdated 6 days ago
Trust signals are the specific elements that tell a buyer — visually and instantly — that the store is legitimate, that others have bought from it and that their purchase is protected.
Most stores have some trust signals. Very few have them in the right places at the right moments in the buying journey.
Here is where trust signals need to be and what form they should take:
- On product pages — customer reviews visible without scrolling, a clear guarantee near the buy button and shipping information that answers the buyer's main logistical question before they ask
- At checkout — payment security icons and a clear refund policy link within view during payment
- In the header or announcement bar — a delivery promise or satisfaction guarantee that applies to the whole store
What the audit checks is whether these signals are present, correctly positioned and specific enough to be credible. A generic star rating with no text means very little. Twenty genuine reviews with specific detail about the product and the delivery experience means a great deal.
During the audit I identify every missing, misplaced or weak trust signal and address it before the service closes. Buyers who find clear consistent trust signals at the right moments complete their purchase more often. That improvement is direct and measurable.
